Making Jewelry Necklaces with Magnetic Clasp (magnetic jewelry clasp)

    Clasp Strength

  1. One of the most important considerations when making jewelry necklaces with magnetic clasps is to make sure the clasp is strong enough to hold the weight of the necklace. Match larger, stronger clasps with heavy beads, especially glass and stone beads, and smaller, lighter weight clasps with lightweight beads such as those made of clay, wood or plastic. The magnetic jewelry clasp must be strong enough to stay closed while holding the full weight of the beads.
  2. Clasp Material

  3. Pewter magnetic clasps are the most common, but they don't always go well with the materials you are using in your necklace. To keep the value and beauty of your necklace, use a magnetic jewelry clasp in the same material you are using elsewhere in your necklace. For example, if you are using sterling silver cap beads in your necklace, use a sterling silver magnetic jewelry clasp. Although harder to find, magnetic clasps now come in very decorative styles, including ones that are set with gemstones and gold.
  4. Surrounding Materials

  5. When using magnetic jewelry clasp, consider the other materials you are using in your necklace. Some may not be compatible or make it difficult to close the clasp. For example, the stone hematite has magnetic properties and could be attracted to the magnetic clasps. Certain metal chains and findings could also do the same. If you are using materials in the necklace that are magnetic, put enough space between them and the clasp so that portions of the necklace will not be drawn magnetically to the clasp.

Tips on Cleaning Jewelry Wholesale

Today, there are many different brands of jewelry cleaners in the market. But the products may or may not be safe for your jewelry whole because it depends on how your jewelry is made. As a precaution, before using any jewelry cleaner, take a good long look at the jewelry and try to determine what it is made of.

First, any jewelry that has pieces glued on should not be soaked in jewelry cleaner. Instead, use a
little Woolite mixed with water, and soak the piece for just a couple of minutes. Remove the piece from the mixture and dry it immediately – but gently – with a soft cloth. Use a soft toothbrush to gently scrub small crevices.

Avoid soaking pearls! They may come from the ocean – but water from your tap may damage them. Simply wipe the pearl with a damp cloth, then use a polishing cloth to give it back its shine. Never soak any of your jewelry overnight. It isn’t necessary, and it may harm the jewelry wholesale. Again, it is important to know what gems are used in your jewelry, and how the piece was constructed before determining how you will clean it.
